Behind the Scenes: The Reveal of the Parisian Pied-à-Terre
Today I'm revealing the AFTER photos of my client's Parisian apartment and taking you through some of the design details.
I know you are here for the photos :) and there are a lot of them, so this post may be truncated in your email. Just click “view entire message” on the email and you’ll be able to read the entirety of the post.
When I lived in the US I would sometimes turn on the one of the morning news shows while getting ready for the day and catch their segment of ambush makeovers. Someone in the audience would be targeted because their “look” was apparently lack-luster and needed some zhushing. I always felt a bit of compassion for that person. Was it an insult to be picked out of the crowd because they desparately needed a makeover or was it a back-handed compliment because some staff person on the show saw potential if the chosen one would be willing to hand themselves over to “the professionals?” Either way, it did make for good TV because I would delay my morning routine as much as possible so I could witness this radical transformation.
Transformation and resolution have to be two of the most rewarding experiences. Being able to finally arrive at the long awaited realization of something you envisioned and worked diligently to bring to fruition is nothing short of satisfying. Transforming a space is one of the rewards that fuels me as a designer. Taking a “lack-luster” space, seeing the potential, and giving it a make-over. Who doesn’t love a good before and after?
After several months of planning, construction and final finishing, my client’s pied-à-terre was complete. During the entire renovation period, my clients came by only once during the demolition, and then I sent them update photos throughout the project. They truly handed me the keys of trust. I was excited to show them the final result when they returned at the end of the project and the anticiptaion made it a grand reveal. Thankfully, they loved it!
Grab a cup of coffee and I’ll give you a tour…
